Health Department Request. We do not plan to suspend in person Mass. We will continue to encourage the practices Bishop Rhoades mandated for Masses to resume in May and livestream all Sunday Masses on Facebook, in addition. The Sunday obligation remains suspended and those at risk are free to stay home – or come – as they freely decide. Weekday Masses remain an even safer option to draw near the source and summit of our faith – the Holy Eucharist. May Jesus Christ be praised!
Gym Masses. When I began the Masses in the gym (Sat 4:30 and Sun 9:15), which allows for additional distancing, I was motivated by a sincere desire to allow a return to the Eucharist of more at-risk parishioners. I want to reaffirm this, and also one that this will unfortunately become unsustainable when Frs. Ken and Joachim return home to Nigeria for just over 2 months for their Christmas recess (and most other priest-students who ordinarily assist at our area parishes). The general plan for folks who have been making use of these Masses is to project the streamed Mass from church in the gym and bring Holy Communion at the normal time. I will still try to bring some priest help for extra assistance, and when that is possible we will be able to have Mass in the gym – we’ll just have to play that by ear. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
